Friends,

As some of you may have heard, our family is about to embark upon a big new adventure in Pennsylvania. I recently accepted a new job at GSI Commerce and will soon be leaving the Bay Area.

When I started JDuvall Photography, it was a part time business and I didn’t really know what it would become — it was primarily to fulfill my longtime desire to do something I love – take pictures! In late 2008, the business started to grow and it just happened that my full time job at Yahoo! came to an end. With my new-found freedom, I finally had a chance to focus on building my photography business. Throughout ‘09, the business grew larger than I would have guessed, primarily due to our great network of friends and family in the area. I’m very thankful that so many of you gave me the opportunity to take your pictures.

A couple of months ago I received a call from a recruiter in the northeast asking if I was interested in working in PA. I of course said that it depends on for whom and what the job was. Long story short, the company made me an oustanding offer and we’re off to the greater Philadelphia area for our next big adventure. JDuvall Photography won’t go away forever but will be on a long term “sabbatical”. Here are a few questions that may be on your mind.

Q: Can I still order prints, download digital files, cds, etc?
A: Yes, your photos will be available for purchase/download through 2010. If you need a link your gallery, have forgotten the password, etc. please let me know.

Q: Will you keep the original image files after 2010?
A: Maybe. I will likely archive the files but there’s no guarantee that I will keep them past 12/31/10. If there are images you want keep forever please order them now or contact me about getting a CD of your originals (50% off).

Q: Can I get a discount?
A: Yes, use the coupon code “thankyou50″ for 50% off all orders.

Thank you for your business and friendship!

Jimmy

American Cancer Society Silicon Valley Invitational

On Monday July 27th, I’m donating my time as the event photographer for the American Cancer Society’s Silicon Valley Invitational golf tournament.  I’m excited to spend the day at the gorgeous CordeValle Golf Resort in San Martin, supporting a wonderful cause.

Given that our first shoot was cut a bit short, I meet Matthew’s Mom and Dad at a local park for part two. This time, he didn’t want to leave!

Before our photo session, Tyler had already shot down one photographer and was determined to make me (and his Mom) work for every shot!  In the end, we ended up with some great pictures…

Earlier this year, I donated a family photo session to my daughter’s elementary school to raise money at the school’s annual gala fundraiser.  After agreeing upon a location (one of my favorite spots in Cupertino) with the winner, we picked a date.  Little did we know it would turn out to the be the hottest day so far this Spring, with temps soaring well over 100 degrees.  We made quick work, made good use of precious shade, and got some nice family shots.

Little Matthew and his family arrived at the studio right after his nap so that he’d be good and rested. Little did we know he wanted absolutely nothing to do with taking pictures. After pulling out everything from his Tonka truck to balloons to a mini beach ball, I was able to get a few good in-motion shots. At one point in the shoot, he pointed towards home and said in his cute little kid voice, “Daddy, go home?”. We finally gave in and took a few quick shots of baby Hailey’s little toes and the family’s hands.

Becky is a senior at San Jose State University and will be graduating in just a couple of months.  Her mom wanted a few pictures for her graduation announcements to share with family and friends.  We had a great session and the photos really capture her wonderful smile!

A couple weeks ago, my good friend Ryan needed a shot for an upcoming spot in BusinessWeek, so we met at the headquarters of Koombea for a photo shoot.  Last week he was featured in the article “The Rebounders“.

I met Sara a few weeks back via our local Willow Glen 2.0 social network and after we spoke about what type of pictures she wanted, we agreed to do the shoot at a local park. As you can see below, we didn’t make it to the park.  We tried to schedule and reschedule several weekends in a row, but with the recent rain we decided to just do the shoot in my in-home studio. It was freezing and pouring rain outside, but you’d never know it by looking at these photos!  We spent about an hour taking pictures and got some great shots of Sara and her very energetic daughter.

After the shoot, Sara wrote a very nice review of JDuvall Photography on Yelp. Thank you!
